Welcome to the Bluestem Bed and Breakfast, our 19th century home on the old Wynkoop farmstead in LaPorte, Indiana.
This historic farmhouse blends vernacular Federal style architecture and old world craftsmanship with modern comfort, convenience, and environmentally conscious practices. The upstairs bedrooms with large windows and the private deck overlook gardens, a meadow, and farmlands inhabited by deer, woodchucks, rabbits, wild turkeys and other birds and wildlife. We offer private, family-friendly hospitality in a graceful, natural setting—a great base from which to tour the surrounding area.

Hosts José and Christine Rosario
Welcome, local and international travelers, to our lovingly restored and renovated farmhouse “by the side of the road,” complete with red barn and outbuildings. Educators by profession, José is bilingual in Spanish/English and Christine knows some German. We acquired the Wyncoop farmstead in 1991, opened Bluestem in 2008, and continue to work on the grounds, which include an organic vegetable garden, walking trails through the property, native grasses, and perennial gardens. We invite you to enjoy them all and share your knowledge.
We also invite you to visit Willow Run Farm in south central Indiana, where our son and his family breed and raise beautiful and gentle Irish Connemara ponies-great for learning to ride.
We are members of the Indiana Bed and Breakfast Association, Slow Food USA, People Engaged in Preservation, La Porte Historical Society, Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, and a partner with the LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
