Getaway to the rolling hills of Michigan wine country and sample some of their award-winning wines. When you arrive, unwind with a complimentary Spanish-style tapa and refreshing beverage served on your shaded, private deck overlooking Bluestem’s lush gardens and fields. For breakfast, choose an indoor or outdoor venue to savor a gourmet breakfast of seasonal fruit and a specially prepared farm fresh egg dish and dessert. Then head off to Michigan wine country…with stops at Lemon Creek Winery and Fruit Farm for a tasting, Domaine Berrien Cellars for a wine and cheese snack on their open air deck, and the Round Barn Winery for a beer, wine, and/or vodka tasting. Finish the day at Tabor Hill Winery with a guided tour, tasting, and elegant dinner at their acclaimed restaurant overlooking the vineyards. Note: Tabor Hill Restaurant is only open Wednesdays through Sundays.

For that extra swing in your getaway weekend, include dinner for two at Trio's Restaurant and Jazz Club with your overnight stay ($75 value). Every Friday and Saturday night, Trio's serves up delicious fare, including Louisiana and Kansas City favorites, with live traditional jazz at it's lively, upscale and casual club/restaurant in downtown South Bend. And when you're relaxing back in the Master Suite, enjoy your favorite CDs on the Bose player, peruse our library for books about your favorite jazz artists, or bring your instrument and play in tune with nature and your muse. Sleigh Bells Ring...
A winter lovers’ special includes a 20-minute old-fashioned sleigh ride provided by Dream Coach Carriages on their farm (snow conditions permitting). Warm up with a mulled wine, Irish coffee, or hot chocolate reception upon your arrival. Bring your skates or cross-country skis to enjoy at the surrounding parks, or your show shoes/boots for our trails in the back. Snow is often about 1-2 feet deep in La Porte; call ahead for weather conditions.

Romantic Getaway
Celebrate special days with your beloved in the serene, natural, and private setting of the Bluestem Bed and Breakfast. You are welcomed into your Master Suite with a bright bouquet of fresh flowers and a wine/champagne setup with complimentary hors d’oeuvres. Music wafts from a Bose radio/CD player. Dinner reservations are made for you at a fine dining restaurant of your choice. Return to a bubbly soak in your vintage bath. Candlelight three-course gourmet breakfast can be accompanied by champagne (if you provide it). Couples in-room massage can also be arranged, if desired (estimated cost $110 for 45 minutes).

History Makes for Family Fun in La Porte
Grandparents, parents, and kids of all ages enjoy playing with history. In the mornings, sample breakfast items from old time recipes. Learn about the Wyncoop family who built and slept under the same roof as you. Then head out to see how 19th century folks in La Porte used to live, the cars they used to drive, the trains and steam machines that carried them through the industrial age. Touch a real locomotive, climb onto a caboose, and ride miniature steam trains through the woods. Top off a museum visit with ice cream treats at our town's old-fashioned soda fountain. Stepping back in time creates wonderful opportunities to tell stories and pass on intimate feelings and important legacies through generations. In the evening, you return to Bluestem and roast wieners or homemade marshmallows over an open fire on the grounds. Plus, there will still be time to head to the beaches or go shopping at Lighthouse Place Premium Outlet!
